What I do
I work with governments, non-profits and businesses and provide:
advice and analysis on what and how to apply sustainability frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals, (SDG 12 in particular), planetary boundaries, doughnut economics and wellbeing, to organisations.
education, training and workshops for all ages across a range of sustainability topics, targeted on personal and practical impact;
strategy and planning, including developing a business case for change, designing setting a sustainability vision, developing goals and targets and identifying priorities for action;
stakeholder engagement; and
guidance and plans for monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting.
backstory
Who I am
I am a super enthusiastic sustainability strategist. I bring years of policy development and program management experience, from business, government and non-profits, to work collaboratively to design sustainable solutions (think circular, regenerative and sufficiency) that will have real impact. I also work across multiple stakeholders to drive creative, systemic long-term change to tricky issues.
I’m an engaging public speaker, appearing regularly on local ABC radio and loads of other places, talking about how and why to live a more sustainable life. I also love hearing about what others are doing and, as the co-host of a locally produced podcast, Environment Heroes, I have the privilege of interviewing some amazing people and listening to their stories of what they are doing to make our world a happier and healthier place.
I sit on the board of the Canberra Environment Centre where I help design and run workshops on sustainability for primary school children. And I am a judge for the Banksia Awards, Australia’s longest running sustainability awards. This year, I was on the judging panel for both the National awards (judging the the “Communications for Impact” category and the “Gold” award) and the Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Awards, (Waste and Litter Reduction category).
In a former life, I trained (and practised briefly) as a lawyer before moving into international development, with a focus on aid policy and governance issues, working for the federal government (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and AusAID) and World Vision.
