Analysis

Working collaboratively with the City of Melbourne and the University of Melbourne (Melbourne Centre for Cities) to develop a Voluntary Local Review, detailing City of Melbourne’s local contribution to meeting the SDGs. This is the first city in Australia to have produced such a report. Let’s hope that many more will follow.

City of Melbourne’s Voluntary Local Review (an Australian first) detailing progress by City of Melbourne to meet the Sustainable Development Goals

Information

Speaking to Antony Funnell on ABC’s Radio National Future Tense podcast (broadcast on 20 February 2022 and follow-up story can be found here) about the speed with which our clothing is now being produced and consumed and what that means for our world.

Articles

I wrote an article for Good on You about our Circular T-short guide and upcoming workshop as part of RawAssembly, a responsible, regenerative, circular textile sourcing event.

Strategy

In collaboration with OzHarvest, produced a brief outlining Australia’s progress on SDG 12.3 - halving food waste by 2030. The Australian Government has set and committed to this Target but with less than nine years remaining, urgent action is required if Australia is to halve food waste by 2030.

Storytelling

A story on what the future of fashion could/should be, based loosely on The Matrix.

1999. The year of The Matrix movie and its iconic shiny, black, trench coat. I owned a cheap, imitation version which was made from PVC and  — with me inside of it — would have gone up in flames had I ever worn it while standing next to a fire, something I did not know then.

Education

Working with a collective of industry experts and researchers, designed and published a guide on what a circular t-shirt is in the Australian context. The guide is designed to assist Australia’s textile, clothing and footwear industry and consumers understand the impact that textile production and consumption has on the environment and how the product can become more sustainable. The guide was officially launched on 26 July by the Hon. Minister Lily D’Ambrosio, the Victorian Minister for Climate Change, Energy and the Environment.
